2GB’s Alan Jones hosts lunchtime fundraiser

Radio presenter Alan Jones will this Friday host a fundraising lunch to benefit spinal paralysis research. The event is backed by Macquarie Radio Network’s talk station 2GB.

The announcement:A galaxy of Australian sporting heroes and stars will shine at the 2nd Annual Sporting Legends Lunch in Sydney this Friday  June 26th in aid of The Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation to find a cure for paralysis.

A cast of Australia’s most famous sportsmen and women will come out to honour a young man, Perry Cross, who was paralysed in a rugby accident. Perry has been fighting his disability for two decades and, inspired by the late Christopher Reeve, who became a close friend, Perry set up the Perry Cross Spinal Research Foundation to cure paralysis for all.

Perry Cross is an inspirational Australian. A C2 quadriplegic, in 1994 at 19 Perry suffered from a significant spinal injury while trialling for a Queensland representative rugby side. Perry Cross is changing the way the world views paralysis, he is showing the world that a cure is possible – it is just a matter of when. The 25th Governor-General of Australia Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Alan Jones AO are Patrons of the Foundation and its Ambassadors include Adam Gilchrist AM, John Eales AM, Nathan Sharpe and Nathan Grey.

Perry Cross says “ I’m thrilled that so many sports stars are behind this great cause . I really believe that it’s only a matter of  time until we find a cure for paralysis . Funds raised from these lunches will go towards research at Griffith University to get one step closer to achieving the dream . “
