Michael Ebeid appointed SBS managing director
Former ABC director of corporate strategy Michael Ebeid has been appointed as the new managing director of SBS, starting June 13.
“Mr Ebeid brings to SBS a special set of personal and professional skills, with the right blend of operational and strategic experience from his 24 years in the Media, Telecommunications and IT technology sectors which represent the three arms of the convergence changing the entertainment and information landscape in Australia,” said SBS chairman Joe Skrzynski.
Ebeid will replace current MD Shaun Brown, who is retiring in June.
The Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy Stephen Conroy welcomed Ebeid to SBS and said the Gillard Government “looks forward to working with Mr Ebeid”.
Ebeid migrated to Australia from Egypt when he was three years old. He has a strong background in media and telecommunication, having worked at the ABC, Optus and IBM.
