Ad wrap: Apple pushes 6S; CommBank uses Bugsy Malone; Mikita creates the neighbour from hell; Aldi uses reggae to sell crumpets

Here’s a wrap of some of the latest ads to hit screens, including Apple, Commonwealth Bank, Virgin Australia, Comparethemarket.com.au and Mikita.

With the launch of the iPhone 6S last week Apple felt the need to tell users what is different about the phone – ‘not much’ apparently – with this one minute acting as something of a product demonstration, with an Australian voiceover. TBWA is Apple’s agency internationally.

A man who must be one of the worst neighbours in the world stars in a new series of ads for Makita’s garden power tool range via Frontier. First he is caught perving on his athletic neighbour and cutting his fence down:

Then he blows all his leaves into another neighbour’s garden with his new leaf blower:

Before annoying his own wife by mowing the lawn when she is trying to get their baby (or baby simulating doll by the looks of it) to sleep. Fortunately the new mower is so quiet the baby sleeps through it, before he wakes it by opening a tinny.

How would you sell crumpets? Aldi has decided nothing says a tasty morning treat like a bespoke reggae track extolling the virtue of toast, raisin toast and the new crumpets range. As ever BMF is behind the Aldi work.
