AdMaxim hires former Songl chief Mark Shaw as it opens APAC presence

Mark ShawGlobal mobile advertising firm AdMaxim has hired former Songl boss Mark Shaw as part of the company’s move into the APAC region, Mumbrella can reveal.

Shaw will lead AdMaxim’s Sydney office which opened its doors at the start of the year and will be charged with expanding the company’s footprint across Asia. The platform provides precision targeting and real-time technology for mobile devices.

“As a business we have a strong footprint across the US and UK/Europe but APAC is really the next region for us to expand our global footprint,” Shaw told Mumbrella.

He said the company would seek to duplicate its strong relationship with media agencies in Australia and Asia, as they seek to develop more effective mobile marketing strategies.

“What is unique about us is that we coexist within the agency ecosystem. We work really closely with media agencies, and based on what we do in other markets, particularly the UK, we have a strong footprint working closely in partnership. We also have a lot of collaboration with creative agencies, and we also work directly as a preferred mobile partner,” he said.

“We do fit into the eco system for clients, media agencies and creative agencies.”

Shaw is a former commercial director of Sensis and CEO of Digital Music Distributionwhich ran music streaming Songl which closed last year.

He said he was pleased to be back in the mobile space citing his previous experience with Sensis/Telstra: “With Sensis digital I was responsible for mobile. It was commercialised as early at 2008 and I had to lead that and so had a lot of experience back in those days getting the monetisation of mobile into market.

“The world has changed a lot since then but at the end of the day I’m a media person through and through.”
