Outdoor company Adshel has hired industry veteran Mike Tyquin for the newly created role of chief commercial officer.

Tyquin had previously been CEO of Eye Corp Australia for five years before Network Ten sold it to Ooh in 2012 leading to a restructure of the business. Since then he has been running his own consultancy, Lodestar Media, and has recently been working on projects with Adshel.

The move comes three weeks after the company parted ways with sales director Matt Newcomb, although Tyquin’s appointment is not a direct replacement for that role.

Tyquin’s new role will see him manage and create new revenue streams for the region, and he will report into Adshel CEO Rob Atkinson, who said in a statement: “Those of us who have already been lucky enough to work with Mike on our growth strategy have had the joy of seeing his superb commercial acumen in action.

“I am confident we are putting the very best team together to continue to define the future of out-of-home advertising.”

Earlier this month the company also unveiled its first suite of digital billboards around train stations in central Sydney, as the industry looks to increase the opportunities or advertisers on the outdoor medium.

Tyquin added: “The out of home medium is at an incredibly exciting stage and I couldn’t be more pleased to be rejoining the industry. Technology and innovation are opening opportunities for advertisers to reach growing audiences in new, engaging and effective ways and no company is doing more on that front than Adshel.”
