AGL’s Living Flame Girls come together one more time

Energy company AGL is bringing back the stars of its long running TV campaign in a PR stunt to celebrate the company’s 175th birthday.

Airing in 1979 and running for 13 years the AGL Flame Girl dancers appeared in TVCs performing a ‘living flame ballet’.
The PR push is being executed by PPR, which will reunite the dancers for the first time at a breakfast in Sydney on Thursday. The first part of the PR campaign saw the brand issue a public callout to find the 12 dancers.

Appearing will be five of the dancers: Janet Addison, Sheree da Costa, Kathy Chard, Jennifer Barry-Knox and Glenda Percival who were also members of the Sydney Dance Company.

The anniversary celebrations for Australia’s second oldest listed company were kicked off in June with a campaign by GPY&R called “Looking back on 175 years of looking forward” in which there is a brief visual reference to the Flame Girls.
