Air New Zealand head of global brand development Jodi Williams told Mumbrella: “”It’s around building that brand awareness for Air NZ and lifting our brand globally and Sports Illustrated is a great partner for that.

“The brand engagement is a great way for us to show our personality, our warmth and who we are. Very importantly it’s getting the safety message across and we know from feedback from our crew that they find customers are engaging a lot more with the safety videos and watching them.”

While the video’s aim to increase passanger awareness of safety, it also seeks to drive passenger traffic on its Auckland-Rarotonga and Los Angeles-Rarotong services this year.

With that in mind, the ‘Safety in Paradise’ showcases one of Air NZ’s destinations in the video, with it shot in The Cook Islands.

“This one takes it to another level because we’re going to be able to showcase and sell one of our destinations,” Williams said

“With all our videos we try to take on feedback, continue to evolve, think about our audience, think about what it is that we’re trying to achieve – so they’re always a little bit different and different ways of communicating the message to keep it fresh.”
