Airbnb offers night in cottage for Mardi Gras float

dragSocial accommodation company Airbnb has further pushed the pink envelope, after it revealed its float in the Mardi Gras parade will be a house one couple can win a night’s stay in.

Already a major sponsor of the Mardi Gras festival, the company is now seeking to further capitalise on its sponsorship by making its float a brand activation in its own right with a house that comes with a glitter cannon for a chimney and neon lights.

The house will be at The Sydney Botanic Gardens for one night before making its appearance in the parade.

Airbnb Australian Country Manager Sam McDonagh said the brand’s association was not just a random stunt.

“The LGBT community around the world have been some of the first users of Airbnb, hosting and travelling with pride, so we’re thrilled to support a community that has always embraced us,” he said.

“Sydney is one Airbnb’s top ten cities, with more than 10,000 local listings.  And I’m thrilled that the Mardi Gras is our second busiest booking period in the year, with guests from around the world discovering and booking accommodation with locals so they can be a part of the celebrations.”ben
