Al JazeeraThe Walkley Foundation has announced Al Anstey, the managing director of Qatar-based news network Al Jazeera English, will deliver a keynote address at the annual conference Storyology.

The senior news network executive will make a rare visit to Sydney on August 6 ahead of the launch of Al Jazeera America. Anstey has been responsible for the daily operations of the international news and current affairs broadcaster since 2010.

Anstey will speak about the changing world of journalism and how it gives rise to new challenges and opportunities. Under his direction, Al Jazeera English has received multiple awards and accolades. The network currently reaches around 100 million households and Anstey is tasked with directing the broadcaster’s future.

The four-day event will also feature editorial director of BuzzFeed Jack Shepherd and a host of Australian journalists such as former Fairfax China correspondent John Garnaut.
