All I Want for Christmas is to watch Peter Vogel lip synching Mariah Carey
Fans of agency parodies may remember MEC’s take on the Harlem Shake phenomenon a couple of years ago.
Now staff across the global network are going head-to-head with Christmas competition taken straight out of playbook of Lip Synch Battle – seeing who can get the most votes for their rendition of a Christmas classic.
Indeed new Asia boss (and former head of MEC Australia) Peter Vogel seems to be the group’s very own Father Christmas, appearing in two videos – MEC Sydney’s and MEC Global’s. And both times lip synching to Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas.
In MEC Sydney’s version Vogel, Oz CEO James Hier and the rest of the team putting in varying levels of commitment to the power ballad.
Of particular brilliance are Vogel’s intro, Hier’s body language during his solo, and look out for the man in the green jumpsuit sneaking into the lift.
However Dr Mumbo feels you also shouldn’t go past MEC’s very top brass blasting out their own version.
However, he does wonder if the chap in the rubber ring with the inflatable guitar may have drawn the short straw on the costume front.
Unfortunately both entries are trailing the efforts of the Slovakia and Miami offices quite badly at the moment in the public vote.
