All quiet on autoplay
It is now five days since I asked Fairfax Media for a comment regarding its autoplay videos policy following the ban by media agency UM.
I can only assume they’ve lost my phone number, which is odd as I have rung back several times.
So just to help, here it is:

Call me any time guys.

Hi David,
Thanks for your feedback.
We will be working on some changes to our auto-play feature during the course of the year and a site wide ‘off’ setting will be included as part of these changes. We appreciate you talking the time to send in your thoughts for us to consider.
Regards,
Phil

Hi,
You have been sent an email from a reader via a form on theage.com.au

comments: Please consider changing the default video playback setting so that videos do not play without user input.
The 5 second delay is not long enough to pause the vid.
It is annoying to have the videos starting automatically.
