Amanda Gome departing ANZ after two years

Amanda GomeAmanda Gome who has spearheaded ANZ Bank’s foray into digital and social content is set to depart the business on December 11 after nearly two years.

Gome joined ANZ in February last year as head of digital and social media having finished up with Fairfax Media, where she was the publisher for BRW, SmartInvestor and Asset, in November 2013.

During her time with ANZ Gome developed the Notable Women program, which is designed to improve the visibility, social media and communications skills of female leaders, and was associate editor of its BlueNotes newsroom content offering.

Gome will continue to work on the Notable Women program, including taking it to other organisations in Australia and globally.

In an email to staff, Paul Edwards, ANZ’s group general manager of corporate communications, said: “Amanda has bought tremendous energy and an entrepreneurial touch to her role at ANZ. Digital and social was after all effectively a start-up at ANZ two years ago. Today social is increasingly part of our DNA, with established programs in Corporate Communications and a clear direction for the use of social media within the business.”

Edwards announced Sarah Anderson would be returning from parental leave and will step into Gome’s shoes to “lead innovation in ANZ’s digital and social media strategy, the evolution of our governance and social capability programs, and the establishment of a new capability within Corporate Communications focused on data analytics”.

Anderson, who has been the senior manager – social and digital communications at ANZ for the last year, will also work with Andrew Cornell, the managing editor of ANZ’s newsroom BlueNotes, with the pair working on the launch of the BlueNotes app next year.

“Amanda has made a significant contribution at ANZ over the past two years.  It’s been transformational for us and for the many individuals that she’s worked with – particularly our Notable Women and the social media and communications team. We are looking forward to working with her in her new endeavours focussed on Notable Women in 2016,” said Edwards.
