Lion: New MD

The MD of UM Melbourne has left after just five months in the role to go client side. David Angell was promoted into the role in August after joining the media agency in May from Ikon.

Angell will move into a new role as executive media director at Target.

The new MD of UM Melbourne will be Kim Lion, who is currently the agency’s Sydney-based national chief client officer. Lion has been chief client officer for the past 18 months and was previously a group director at UM for four years.

“Kim is one of the most talented media professionals I have worked with in terms of her people skills, client relationships and commercial capabilities,” said UM Australia CEO Mat Baxter.

Baxter added: “We wish David every success as he moves to the client side. He has done a very good job for UM in setting the stage for our Melbourne office.”

Lion said: “In my national client role I have been very close to the Melbourne office and the agency’s work and business environment is very familiar to me.”

Lion starts on February 1.
