Animal Logic secures Sucker Punch VFX work

The company will work on the Warner Bros. production Sucker Punch, directed by Zack Snyder and currently being shot in Vancouver, Canada.

This deal was secured with assistance from the NSW Film and Television Attraction Fund, as well as Warner’s and Snyder’s solid relationship with the VFX studio. Snyder is still working on Guardians of Ga’Hoole with Animal Logic, following a successful collaboration in 2007’s 300.

Sucker Punch stars Australia’s Abbie Cornish and Emily Browning, alongside Mad Men’s John Hamm and High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens, and has been described as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns”. It tells the story of a girl who is institutionalised by her evil stepfather and, finding solace in an alternative reality, plans her escape.

A press release from the NSW Government said the project would create work for 75 VFX specialists.
