Anti-bullying ad: ‘stop bullying or I’ll smash you’
A government ad warning of the effects of bullying launched today.
Created by Blow Communications, the ad features Dancing with the Stars’ Haley Bracken, Footy Show presenter Mario Fenech and CEO of LivingSocial and Jump On It, Colin Fabig.
“As an Underdogs campaign ambassador I will be taking the anti-bullying message with me into the boardroom and into the workplace, encouraging everyone to take a stand against bullying – even when it may not be the most popular thing to do,” said Fabig.
The ads will run on Foxtel and Nine.
good cause but feel there is more power in the subject than has been utilised here.
also, “Stop bullying or i’ll smash ya” ??

They should not have put the guys from Fat Pizza into that ad, it lessens the impact.
“Stop Bullying or I’ll Smash Ya” just makes me laugh when it’s said by him!

This a great cause. Good to see plenty of people are getting on board to support it.

I agree with richie.
I have a 3 year old who is being bullied at creche and despite numerous (ongoing) efforts it is not stopping. This issue is huge and permeates so many facets of society leaving devastating scars on people.
I would like to see more passion and emotion in these ads because we have a serious problem in our community.

What?!? They really want to promote the message “stop bullying or *I’ll smash you”*? Are these the same people that came up with “where the bloody hell are you?”.

Anonymous – Tahir is a comedian, just another member of society speaking out against bullying.
Do agree that his line ‘or I’ll smash you’ should be removed.

Fat Pizza guys completely undermine it and Richie’s right – so much more power in this topic than has been captured by this idea
nearly everyone has been bullied at some stage but wouldn’t stand for it now…isnt there a way of dramatising this to engender empathy with the call to action?

“Rugby Legend” (wrong game!) Gus Gould’s comment “we become part of the problem” is funny considering his pro-poker machine rant on the footy the other night.

Bob, you’re right, nearly everyone has been bullied at some stage, including comedians… Look at you bullies trying to take away their right to stand up against anti-bullying!

People … as usual with these things people OVER anaylse everything. Firstly, I am not on as “the fat pizza guys” ..i appear as TAHIR – stand up comedian … you people are making the connection … Fat Pizza has been part of me yes but i am a stand up comedian primarily. I have appeared on heaps of other shows. I am also an ambassodor for 2 other charities whcih i strongly believe in. They wanted to get a cross selection of people to get the message across to all types – so ease up with your comments ..where are the positive comments on the campaign? The issue is so serious that one bit of humour only helps in getting message across – not undermine it …otherwise it becomes a very hard sell …the line makes people smile but also think.
Sorry people I dont usually reply to these type of forums but I get tired of the negative criticism sometimes. Dont break down the campaign – EMBRACE IT!

People! Why does a low budget have to mean low production quality?! Hire a kid out of uni who knows colour grading! Hold up the cue card NEAR the camera so the talent isn’t looking off screen! Great message, I get it. Lost the impact in my opinion.

The producers of this ad must think bullying is restricted to NSW. Too many no-neck league players. Amateurish effort.

Not quite sure why you’d need an agency to produce something like this. It looks like an amateur tv-station promo.
I agree with the above, this is an emotive issue which needs an emotive message to change people’s attitudes and behaviour. A talking-head fest isnt likely to achieve anything.

Great to have so many opinions on the issue of bullying but I can’t understand why so many comments were negative based especially around the production of the ad. We do what we can with what we have and hopefully we can make a difference even if it’s in one persons life.
Criticism and judgement is the lowest form of conversation. How about changing your attitude to one of “hey at least they are trying to do something about the issue” and not be so negative. Sure it won’t solve the problem but it’s a start and I guess more than what most other people or organisations have done.
Embrace it and be kind. No need to be evil and reject it.
