Apron-wearing male baker fronts ‘tongue-in-cheek’ Nestlé TV push for condensed milk
Viewers are teased by a shirtless, apron-wearing male baker in a new Nestlé and Publicis Mojo campaign which has launched “just in time for Mother’s Day”.
The tongue-in-cheek 30-second commercial demonstrates how “delicious can become even more delicious” by adding Nestlé’s condensed milk.
It was directed by Paul Middleditch and shows the chef splattered with ingredients as he bakes a mountain of cakes.
Publicis chief creative officer, Grant Rutherford, said: “With a much-loved brand like this one, it was a delicate process to balance credentials with great cut through.
“Paul was the ideal person to take the simple ingredients of the ad – an Aussie bloke, a voice over and a can of condensed milk and make it sing. And he’s done it in what I think is a wonderfully compelling and enjoyable way.”

Reminds me a bit of the classic “Perfect Italiano” ads from 2010:

Did you know that condensed milk is simply milk with sugar added to it? They heat the milk and dissolve as much sugar as they can into it. I suppose “condensed milk” sounds a lot better than “milk with lots of sugar in it”.

Absolutely brilliant work!
What’s next? Brokering peace in the Middle East? Curing cancer?
It’s just another bloody boring ad flogging a tin of milk with a himbo. Why is it portrayed as a “delicate process to balance credentials with great cut-though” Is it any wonder that the industry is seen as being infested with self indulgent wankers?
If it was a woman on the ad there would be absolute outrage and cries of rampant sexism?
Yawn!

What’s the bizzare overlap and change in sound in the VO about? Confusing

And if the main character was a woman, in nothing but an apron?

I want to say I love it, I wanted Publicis Mojo to create something great – but they didn’t – the only comment is… time to take the name Mojo out of the company – Mojo on any level just doesn’t live there anymore.

If this was a good looking woman wearing nothing but an apron we would never hear the end of it.

If it was a good looking woman in an apron we’d never hear the end of men telling women to get a sense of humour…is what actually would happen and does every time.

@ Ricki. 10.23am.
Correct, and men are then quickly told that they aren’t funny if they need to be genderist to be humorous, sooooo……

@ Ricki
You’re right, so maybe a good sense of humour is what you need in advertising right? 😉

This objectifies men and I will be making a complaint because I don’t really have much else going on at the moment.

@ oh yes. Sorry to hear your schedule is so light. Personally, I won’t be making a complaint. I’m merely making a comment. All the best to you.

This would have been pulled from the air if this was a woman.
Having said that, my GOD I am loving this ad.
I will be watching it frame by frame and thinking terrible, terrible thoughts.

Congratulations Nestle Australia, I loved your recent Condensed Milk commercial. Certainly a catchy eye opener to promote your product and top marks for using such a cute, good looking guy. Can we see more of Paul please in your next commercials ??

Ok, so let me get this straight. The people complaining about this ad are men, right? So what do they say when women are objectified in ads? Get over it. The fact that it is becoming controversial may not be the true purpose of the ad, but it will certainly be remembered, and that IS the purpose of advertising.

The hypocrisy of the current media environment we are in is in full display with this advertisement. Probably I think it’s all in good fun but there is no doubt whatsoever that if there was a female skimpily clad blending suggestively like the man Twitter and the left-leaning commentators would be going absolutely INSANE.
