Art Gallery of NSW promote pop art exhibition with outdoor selfie campaign
The Art Gallery of NSW is promoting its summer exhibition Pop to Popism with an outdoor campaign that allows the public to turn a selfie into a pop art image.
The gallery partnered with JCDecaux Innovate and UM in the campaign which uses outdoor panels to take photos of members of the public who are then able to select which filter inspired by three pop artists – Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol and Martin Sharp – to apply to the image.
It is then emailed to participants who are able to share on social media using the hashtag #sydneygoespop.
JCDecaux marketing director Essie Wake said: “The innovative potential of out-of-home is limitless and the AGNSW campaign was the perfect platform to combine real creativity with the latest technology. The campaign is engaging and rewarding for audiences, allowing them to take home a little piece of the exhibition via true online/offline out-of-home integration.’’
“Martin Shop”?? I’m assuming you mean Martin Sharp.

Thanks Michael – we’ve corrected that now.

Really UM?
You’re actually claiming this as your idea?
Back when you picked up a Cannes Media Lion in 2002, the Tate Modern ‘Warholiser’ from Naked UK won an award for best use of ‘internet/new media’.

Would’ve been nice to see the actual final pictures. Isn’t that the ‘sizzle’?
