Asbestos awareness charity: are you playing renovation roulette?

A campaign to raise public awareness of the dangers of working with asbestos when renovating or maintaining homes has launched.

The ad uses a game of Russian roulette with a power drill played by a family to get the point across for the Asbestos Diseases Research Institute and asbestosawareness.com.au.

The campaign includes radio, print and online banners as well as TV, kicking off during NSW Asbestos Awareness Week on 26 November.

The campaign, which included strategic media, council engagement, online marketing and a fundraising, was devised by Insight Communications. The advertising component was handled by Cabana Boys.

The TV ad was directed by Brendan Young and produced by Brilliant Films. Post was by Frame, Set & Match and sound by We Love Jam, which also produced the radio commercial. Photography was courtesy of Michael Malherbe.

The actors in the ad were Lindsay Farris (father), who also did the voiceover work, Katherine Shearer (mother), Ruby Thompson (daughter), and Toby Challenor (son).
