Community TV station Aurora is launching gay-themed programming for the month of February.

Two new segments are to air on Aurora – the Queer Fruits Film Festival, which features films from the last four years of the festival compiled into four episodes. And online gay and lesbian channel Inside Out TV is going to broadcast on Aurora as a new series.

The opening episode of QFFF will premiere on Sunday 10 February at 8.30pm. It features the documentary Undressing Vanessa, which won the Best Short Documentary at the 2008 IF Awards and stars drag artist Vanessa Wagner, who appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2002.

“Aurora is passionate about showcasing diverse and inspiring content and we are so proud to broadcast the Queer Fruits Film Festival and Inside Out TV which both focus attention on the real life gay and lesbian community,” said the station’s CEO Phyllisse Stanton.

Inside Out TV, an online, gay and lesbian video entertainment channel, began on YouTube in 2011. It will begin airing on Aurora on Thursday 14 February at 8pm.

Stanton added: “Seeing the value of the diverse content Inside Out TV had to offer online, Aurora approached the channel to broadcast them on a national platform, with the goal to help increase visibility of Australia’s queer community on national television.”
