Australia’s biggest footy fantasy league gets its own TV show

SupercoachNews Limited’s AFL football fan site Supercoach is expanding across platforms, adding a TV show and offering additional content to subscribers via Herald Sun’s Digital Pass.

The branded TV offering, produced by JAM TV Australia, is titled The SuperCoach Show and launches on March 29th.

Shura Taft will host, with panellists including comedian Paul Calleja and reporters from the News Limited stable, such as the Herald Sun’s Sam Edmund and Jay Clark.  The program will be broadcast live on Fox Footy, and will initially be aired at 6pm before moving to a live 7pm timeslot.

News Limited network sports publisher Tom Salom said the show would deliver “the next level of multi-platform integration for SuperCoach. The success of SuperCoach is based not only on the established army of AFL fans who have traditionally read our newspapers, but also on the incredible cross promotion we have been able to achieve for the game”.

He expects over 400,000 Australians to register for the site this year.

The show represents one of the first big pushes for the new Herald Sun paywall, targeting the AFL community with additional content at SuperFooty Live HQ which, according to the press release “provides Australia’s best second-screen experience for AFL matches, including live SuperCoach points”.

Features will include live interaction via Twitter, featuring advanced footy tipping strategies, interviews with AFL players, as well as the Stud of the Week and the Dud of the Week.

The show is sponsored by Dodo Electricity.
