ME Bank appoints new CMO Rebecca James

Rebecca James (1)ME Bank has created a new position of chief marketing officer, appointing former Lavendar executive Rebecca James to the role.

The company said the new role had been created in order to unify its positioning across customer, product, brand and marketing, as well as helping the bank focus on customer’s experience.

Jamie McPhee, CEO of ME Bank, said the new CMO role is an important building block in the growth of the bank.

“ME Bank is focused on creating a consistently superior customer experience by placing the customer at the centre of our decision making. This role furthers that aim,” said McPhee.

“Rebecca brings a unique blend of brand, technology and leadership skills and experience that will stand us in excellent stead as we build a fundamentally different bank – a genuinely fairer bank – in the Australian marketplace.”

James has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing, starting her career at American Express and then independent direct and digital agency Lavender where she rose to the role of managing director.

At Lavender James led a team of 110 people with offices in Sydney and Melbourne servicing clients including Westpac, BT Financial Group, American Express, Qantas, Telstra, Coles, IKEA and Microsoft before departing in May 2013.

“I’m genuinely excited to be joining an organisation that is poised to create a differentiating experience designed around and for the customer”, said James.
