Bauer Media winds up distribution company Network Services
Bauer Media has moved its retail magazine distribution services to Gordon & Gotch, closing its own distributor Network Services.
The move was first reported late last year with the suggestion that some Network Services staff would move across to rival Gordon & Gotch.
Eugene Varricchio, Bauer Media’s director of operations, said in a statement: “Bauer Media’s key focus is on content, not logistics. This decision will allow our business to continue to invest in our brands and focus on creating great content for our audiences.
“We will be working closely with all internal and external parties over the coming days and weeks to ensure a seamless transition.”
Bauer Media is currently in consultation with Network Services’ 95 staff with some to be redeployed throughout Bauer and Gordon & Gotch. Some redundancies are expected.
The changes to Network Services do not affect Bauer Media’s subscription services, including online magazine subscription store, Magshop.com.au.

After Mumbrella broke this story last month, we rang Bauer (or more accurately NDD) because we are clients and were assured “it ain’t gonna happen. Mumbrella has got it all wrong”.
Hmmm – Mumbrella 1, Bauer 0?
