BBC.com strengthens with two new hires

BBC.com has appointed Andrew Knowles and Serenity Harbour to senior roles in Australia.

The announcement:

BBC.com has created two new Australian roles to boost its local sales offering in NSW and Victoria. Andrew Knowles joins BBC.com on 1 July as Sales Manager, NSW.

He joins BBC.com from Gorilla Nation, where he was NSW Sales Manager. Prior to this, he was a business manager within the PBL corporate strategy team, and NSW state manager of ACP magazines’ digital business. Knowles will be based at BBC Worldwide’s new Macquarie Park headquarters.

In Melbourne, Serenity Harbour joins BBC.com as Victorian Sales Manager, also on 1 July. Based partly at the offices of Lonely Planet, owned by BBC Worldwide, Harbour’s appointment is a key move to build BBC.com’s brand presence in the Melbourne advertising market.

Harbour was previously the Victorian Sales Manager for the Ultimate Media Group.

Knowles and Harbour both report to Scott Hamilton, BBC.com’s Regional Sales Director, ANZ.

“Andrew and Serenity have a proven record of strategic sales and are specialists in their markets,” said Hamilton. “They join the team as we look to build on our current success by introducing key new products and services to ANZ audiences and advertisers over the next year.”

BBC.com is the number one international online news provider across Australia and NZ* with more than 3 million ANZ unique users. It offers advertising opportunities across three platforms: online, mobile and VOD. Globally, the site reaches more than 50 million unique users and attracts more than 600 different advertising partners.
