BCM gives students a baptism via Pinterest

Brisbane based advertising agency BCM has announced a partnership with Queensland University of Technology to give six students an internship that the agency claims will be radically different to other student work placements.

Paul Cornwell, BCM Managing Partner said “We called the programme ‘Baptism’ because it will give students experience working with real briefs and real clients in a real world comms agency environment. And we’ve deliberately avoided language such as ‘work experience’ in describing this programme because that often implies a period of nothing more than workplace observation”.

The interns will be selected from QUT’s final year Advertising and Communication courses and will have to complete a two stage application process, submitting a document and then, if shortlisted, creating a Pinterest board to give insight into their character.

Another Pinterest initiative launched by Sydney based advertising agency The Works for upmarket grocer Thomas Dux uses the site as an advent calendar, which allows users to open a new recipe or gift idea hidden behind each day leading up to Christmas.

Pinterest itself has a non-religious themed “30 days of Pinspiration” board using a similar idea.
