Big Bash continues to perform well as Love Actually helps Seven win the night

Screen Shot 2015-12-22 at 9.31.24 AMThe Big Bash continues to perform well however it wasn’t enough for Ten to win the night, with Seven pulling out Christmas family favourite Love Actually to scoop top honours.

Session two of game six between the Perth Scorchers and Adelaide Strikers pulled in 768,000 metro viewers to be the most-watched non-news program of the evening.

Session one of the same match was watched by 566,000. Session one was the most-watched show amongst 16-39 year olds and 18-24 year olds while Seven’s movie Love Actually was the preferred choice amongst 25-54 year old viewers.

Love Actually, airing from 8.30pm, pulled in 656,000 metro viewers, easily out-rating Nine’s moving offering Patriot Games which was watched by 372,000.

News dominated the quiet evening in which no program broke the 1m viewer mark, with Seven News at 6pm winning the evening with a metro audience of 973,000. That number dipped to 900,000 for the 6.30pm news.

Nine News at 6pm pulled in 935,000, growing to 959,000 from 6.30pm.

Thanks to Love Actually and the news Seven won the evening with an audience share of 20.6 per cent, ahead of Nine’s share of 16.3 per cent. Ten managed third place with a share of 15.1 per cent as the ABC had  a share of 11.7 per cent.

On the ABC, 7.30 was watched by 739,000, Back Roads (8pm) grabbed 729,000 and Foreign Correspondent (8.30pm) had a metro audience of 464,000.
