Blind date couple feature in new ANZ campaign
A new ad for ANZ bank features a couple preparing for a blind date.
The bank’s creative agency is Whybin\TBWA\Melbourne. The campaign is one of the first rolled out since Matt Boss became the bank’s marketing chief.
Unlike much of ANZ’s recent work, Mentalist star Simon Baker is absent from the ad.

Looks like a trend away from that campaign. The new spot running in the Aussie Open with Ivan Lendl don’t feature him either.

If I scored her on a blind date I’d be cheering. Cute and clever ad I guess. Gets the message across quite simply, and is a refreshing departure from Simon Baker.

I’m confused!? Our male character does use the supposedly, “simpler banking” from ANZ, but still forgets her name. So either he’s a ninny or simpler banking doesn’t free your mind…

I wish banks would stop showing those “Pay-Wave” & “Tap’n’Go” banking transactions in ads – they’re so deceptive! The RFID chips in my transaction cards only last 2-3 moths before failing & intead of making my banking simpler, I then have to INSERT the card twice & then SWIPE at least once (3x the effort – so much for simpler banking!).
And yes, I do bank with the ANZ, and their solution to the problem? (other than replacing the cards constantly) – they advise me to keep my cards separate. How do you do that in a wallet? Have 4-5 wallets?
It doesn’t matter how simple you try and make banking, you still have to deal with banks and no amount of advertising can eradicate the humdrum of banking.

Interesting ANZ TV add where the guy walks up from Center Place (City) to get a wine at a bottleshop (Bendigo Hotel Johnston St) gets to the date place and heads up the stairs (belonging to Ferdydurk Tattersalls Lane, off Lonsdale City) and meeting the girl in what looks like Rootop Level 7 (Around the corner at 252 Swanston). No wonder he got her name wrong 😉
