BMF goes Mad Men for a day
BMF’s creative department has swapped ripped jeans and ironic T-shirts for suits and trilbys for a day, in tribute to the cast of Mad Men.
Dr Mumbo was curious as to whether this was a reflection of changing agency culture at BMF. Or if the stunt was designed to get creatives thinking more like suits. Or some kind of social experiment.
But no, it was merely a practical joke – the creative team hadn’t told the rest of the agency of their plans before they came into work sporting the Don Draper look.
Dennis Koutoulogenis, BMF’s creative director (pictured centre, in the hat), said: “We’re not really suggesting we need to bring back the good old days when you went into meetings with a glass of scotch in your hand. But then, perhaps it’s something we need to think about as an industry.”
Watching from a safe(ish) distance in the office, this was not only spectacularly amusing but they all looked awesome, and I think there’s a feeling in the agency that productivity (creativity) surpassed their usual stratospheric standards on the day!

Hey anon,
It’s advertising – not niche publishing. What a stupid point you fail to make.

Thank goodness though, none of the chaps wore a pastel twinset, FFbra or a red wig in an attempt at gender equality!

I don’t know about missing too many women if they’re recreating Mad Men, but they are sadly missing a Christina Hendricks look-alike… (Google is your friend on that one, boys and girls)

what a rivetting piece of journalism this story is. Books being judged by their covers. How very advertising.

Reminds me of the hilarious yet a buit uncomffortable inittial meetings between agencies and banking clients, where the agency trys to give the impression they are aligned to the bank. The style of suits are of great amusement to the client and tend to fall into two categories
1. Suit bought for a wedidng 5 years ago and not fitting as well as it used to and well passed its ‘on trend’ moment
2. Ironic Suit with zips, velcro, or mish mash of color
