BMF makes redundancies after falling client spend
Leading Australian ad agency BMF has retrenched a number of staff.
The agency’s managing partner Dylan Taylor said that the cut backs “relate to declining spend of certain clients”.
The redundancies have been made across a number of departments; it is unclear how many have been made.
“Obviously it’s very sad when people are let go. But unfortunately it’s a consequence of business. Many Australian businesses have been shedding jobs of late,” Taylor said.
The news comes as key client CommBank announced the results of its global agency review, with BMF holding on to the account until the end of the financial year, according to CMO Andy Lark.
BMF is going through a period of change after the agency split into three in November last year.
The Photon-owned agency brought in Laura Sampedro and Carlos Alija as ECDs from Spanish shop Señora Rushmore a month ago.
It will not surprise me in the least to see more agencies shed staff in the next 1-3 months.
