Bondi Hipsters get their first ad campaign with TV spot for The Iconic
The Bondi Hipsters, aka Christiaan Van Vuuren and Nick Boshier, have fronted their first TV ad with a campaign for online retailer The Iconic.
The duo, best known for producing online hits the Bondi Hipsters, are the face of the commercial which encourages people to go online for their shopping needs.
Produced by Mighty Nice and directed by Simon Robson, this is the first time the Bondi Hipsters – Dom and Ade – have appeared in a TVC.
Van Vuuren – a former salesman with outdoor company JC Decaux – is also The Fully Sick Rapper. Boshier was co-creator of the online Beached Az animated comedy featuring a washed-up whale.
“After creating awareness with our first campaign, we are now focusing on converting offline shoppers to shop online with The Iconic. We’ve worked together with the Bondi Hipsters to deliver an entertaining insight on the benefits of online shopping.” said Finn Age Haensel, co-founder of The Iconic.
The campaign will air across all major free to air networks and pay TV and will also run across radio and online channels.
The Bondi Hipsters are best known for the viral hit The Life Organic which is now approaching a million views.

Nice. Pity The Iconic thinks it invented online shopping. Wankers.

nicely done,
not 100% on what the site sells though, they mention brands but not the shopping category – i know its there, ie the clothes, bags etc, but its a little buried
good though

Sadly when you sell out you hope it is to a big earner.
This was the boys chance.
Hope they made some bucks as no one will touch them now.

Delicious irony. Using a TVC to give an online retailer some momentum.

Yeah these guys were way cooler before 8.3 million YouTube views when only me and my friends knew about them. Now they’re getting all popular and have obviously sold their souls and forsaken their art.
I hate when people get all successful.

Meh, I heard the iconic were burnignn through $10M a month to secure Aussie market. If that’s the best they can do, then I think there’s a need to change ad agencies.

More evidence advertisers are generally 18 months behind when it comes to trends.

WTF was that? NOT 30 seconds of some bogan selling some product or other straight down the barrel. Shock Horror!

Everyone stop being so angry!
I think the ad is hilarious – as if the boys are going to turn down a chance to star in a funny tv commercial. Good money, exposure, and fun. They obviously love to act- its what they do as hobbies, and they’re good at it- so being in an ad is just an extension of what they love doing…..
Stop knocking them- they’re doing well for themselves!
