Tasmanian Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival announces line up
The Tasmanian Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival has announced its 2012 full line up which includes the world premiere of Australian documentary Semi Colin about Colin Murray, as well as local films Save Your Legs, A Common Purpose and Coral Rekindling Venus.

The Tasmanian Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival (BOFA) has announced an outstanding 2012 program featuring 30 of the world’s best features and documentaries from the last 12 months.
The 2012 BOFA Festival, to run from November 8-11 in Launceston and Hobart, will offer a wide range of screen based entertainment ranging from the latest Woody Allen production To Rome with Love to the extraordinary and award winning US feature Beasts of the Southern Wild.
Documentaries include Under African Skies, which follows Neil Simon’s return to South Africa 25 years after Graceland, and Jiro Dreams of Sushi, the story of the world’s greatest sushi master.
Premieres include the world premiere of Semi Colin, a documentary following the career of erotic graphic artist Colin Murray, and the Australian premiere of 2 Days in New York, Julie Delpy’s follow up to her hit 2 Days in Paris.
There will be a special free 50th anniversary screening of the Tasmanian made children’s classic They Found a Cave and free daily screenings of the remarkable underwater documentary Coral Rekindling Venus, specially made for full dome planetariums.
Festival Director Owen Tilbury said that he was delighted with the program, compiled with the guidance of BOFA’s Artistic Directors Rowan Woods and Trish Lake.
“BOFA has been called the ‘Festival with a conscience’ and our focus is very much on screen based story telling which inspires positive change”, he said.
“This year, within that framework, we have put together a program of 30 outstanding movies which will make our audiences laugh, cry and think.”
“We are particularly pleased this year to be partnering with MONA and the State Cinema to extend the Festival to Hobart audiences.”

In 2012, BOFA plans to showcase over the Thursday 8 to Saturday 10 November, international and Australian feature films/documentaries, short films, cinema related exhibitions (in partnership with Queen Victoria Museum), master-classes and parties, but, as well, is adding a new Make a Difference Day (Sunday 11th November) incorporating a free community open day, screenings of a Make a Difference Day short film competition, features/documentaries, several master-classes run by industry experts, and writers’ festival speakers all on Make a Difference themes. The Make a Difference Day will be the culmination of the festival and will highlight the purpose of inspiring “positive change”.
