Brisbane radio ratings: Triple M up and Nova down to squeeze market

Brisbane's Grill Team ties second with 97.3FM

A Nova drop and a Triple M jump in the Monday to Sunday radio ratings has tightened an already close-run Brisbane commercial FM market.

Across the Monday to Sunday demos the station jumped 1.5 percentage points from 9.8% to 11.3%.

Craig Bruce, Southern Cross Austereo’s head of Content told Mumbrella: “Brisbane was excellent. Triple M is up. The Brisbane Grill Team has had a terrific result. And Merrick and the Highway Patrol is up in Drive.”

The Triple M jump comes as Nova has taken a greater hit of 1.7 percentage points, from 13.8% to 12.1%, but maintains the lead.

DMG Radio’s group program director Paul Jackson told Mumbrella: “Only the last two survey have we been on top. Jay Walkerden, program director of Nova in Brisbane, has done a far superior job than his predecessor in executing it really well. He’s been in since this time last year, and the network is humming beautifully. It bodes well for the long term.”

As a result, the top four stations are back within two percentage points of each other.

Australian Radio Network’s 97.3fm has remained in second place on 11.7%, down on 12.3% as SCA’s B105 moves to fourth place with 10.1% share, up on 9.9%.

In Breakfast, Nova’s Ash Kip and Luttsy took the top commercial FM spot on 11.7%, despite dropping two percentage points from 13.7%. It was followed by a tie between ARN’s Mix network 97.3fm and Triple M on 10.9%.

In the AM market, the ABC remains on top with 10.6% with 4BH a distant second on 7.3%, down from 7.8%.
