Brynne and Beauty & The Geek continue ratings slump
Seven reality shows Beauty & The Geek and Brynne: My Bedazzled Life saw ratings dip last night, continuing a steady path of decline for both shows over the last four weeks.
Despite winning across all three key advertising demos in its time slot last night, Beauty & The Geek has dropped from 892,000 on its seasonal debut for total viewers to last night’s 712,000.
In its second week the dating competition rated 852,000, while last week rated 831,000, according to preliminary ratings from OzTam.
Likewise for Brynne: My Bedazzled Life, which airs at 8pm before Beauty and the Geek, last night rated 680,000 in third place in its time slot for total viewers behind ABC’s Catalyst and Big Brother Confidential.
Brynne: My Bedazzled Life has dropped consistently since premiering on 930,000 four weeks ago. In its second week, Brynne dropped to 809,000 and last week rated 756,000.
In the key advertising demos, Brynne: My Bedazzled Life was second in its time slot for 16-39, third in 18-49 and 25-54.
Winning the 8.30pm time slot in total viewers was ABC drama Rake rating 850,000 in front of Nine’s AFP – Australian Federal Police rating 677,000, while Ten’s Law and Order: SVU rated 586,000 in fourth place up.
Elsewhere, Ten’s hour of Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals rated 614,000 for its 8pm episode, and 583,000 for 7.30pm show.
Nine’s Big Brother rated 820,000 in total viewers at 7pm with Big Brother Confidential at 8pm rating 744,000. Both jumped in the demos, however.
The daily show placed first for the night while Confidential placed third, and second in its time slot behind Seven’s How I Met Your Mother.
Similarly in 18-49 and 25-54, the daily show won the night with Confidential third behind Seven’s Beauty and the Geek.
It was a close win for Seven’s Sunrise at the other end of the day, beating breakfast TV rival Today by just 2,000 total viewers. Sunrise rated 352,000 while Today rated 350,000.
Nine won the night in channel share just ahead of Seven. Nine took 18.6% while 18.3% share. ABC1 was third rating 15.2% ahead of Ten on 13.2%. SBS1 was sixth behind GO! on 6%.

The Brynne show is terrible. Very poorly produced.
It frustrates me, because The Shire was actually a very well made enjoyable show and was a much better executed program in the genre.

The networks should learn their lesson and do these trash shows as one off special events. They rate well for one week if publicised well.
