Budget 2015 in front pages, cartoons (and a government info video)

There is rarely a richer time of year for cartoonists than budget season, and this year’s has proven no exception. Dr Mumbo has collated a few of the best (and the government’s handy budget overview video as well).

The Australian reflects on the differences between this year’s and last year’s budget, with PM Tony Abbott, treasurer Joe Hockey and his infamous cigar having a beer with Labor leader Bill Shorten:Screen Shot 2015-05-13 at 8.32.36 am

The Herald Sun depicted Abbott, Hockey and Social Services Minister Scott Morrison steering a ship as cash blows around them:Screen Shot 2015-05-13 at 10.19.42 am

The Daily Telegraph spruiks the emphasis on business and work in the budget, showing the same trio as three of the Seven Dwarves:

Fairfax papers online went with two images, the first showing Abbott and Hockey’s change of economic rhetoric, and the second with Hockey breaking the fiscal chains:Screen Shot 2015-05-13 at 9.27.23 am
