Burke’s Backyard magazine closes
Burke’s Backyard magazine is to close after 15 years in circulation.
The magazine, which was co-produced by ACP Magazines – now Bauer Media – and CTC Productions, will continue as a YouTube channel, a website and a book series, but its March edition will be its last.
The announcement:
Burke’s Backyard Publishing, a partnership between ACP Magazines and CTC Productions, today announced that, after nearly 15 years (first issue July, 1998), the final issue of Burke’s Backyard magazine would be the March 2013 issue.
Don Burke, Director of CTC Productions said: “I’d like to thank the people of Australia for 30 years of generous support of Burke’s Backyard radio, TV & magazine.
Burke’s Backyard began in 1982 as a radio program on 2UE in Sydney, in 1987 the TV program went to air & in July 1998 the magazine began.
The way Australians took Burke’s Backyard to their hearts and families is something I will never forget and I would like to thank them for it.
30 years is an amazing time for support for these activities to exist but in recent times the circulation and advertising for the magazine were underachieving and it ceased to be profitable. The partnership therefore was forced to close the magazine.
The Burke’s Backyard YouTube Channel, website and books will continue.”
I think you’ll find Don Burke was on 2WS (WSFM) prior to moving to 2UE. Can’t recall if his program was called “Burke’s Backyard” though.

Sad. And best to the staff. It was the last remaining magazine in Australia where you could put carrots on the cover and people not think you a fool.

Sad to see this. My wife has had a subscription for about 5 years and really looked forward to each issue.
For me I would like to know if unfinished subs will be refunded
