Burson-Marsteller releases infographics on social media use in Asia-Pacific
PR agency Burson-Marsteller has released a set of infographics on the penetration of social network platforms in the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia.
Amongst the stats is Facebook ranked as the number one website and number one social media channel in Australia. It estimates that out of the 17 million Australians who use the internet, Facebook reaches 69.5% of them with 17 billion page views a month, followed by a 56.9% reach by YouTube with 1 billion page views. Twitter is said to reach 11.4% of users with 60 million page views monthly.
The ABC is said to have 130 million page views monthly, the leader in mainstream media.
17m people use the internet in Australia? And 69% ie 11m are on facebook? surely its not that high..? what is the basis of the estimation?

Shouldn’t Google (on it’s own, not just YT) be in the top 5 websites (by reach)?

Hey anon … I think they mean “Top 5 Social Media Websites” .. which knocks Google (per se) out.

Yep, that’s what I figured. But I wouldn’t have put live, ninemsn or yahoo into that category either (some of their products, possibly). It just seems a bit like they haven’t thought it all through very well.
