Business leaders come together in campaign to end indigenous disadvantage

Australian business leaders, including Kerry Stokes and James Packer, have banded together to launch a campaign to address the problems faced by the country’s indigenous communities.

The GenerationOne campaign is being led by billionaire businessman Andrew “Twiggy” Forrest and has also attracted support from the Lowy family and Lindsay Fox, as well as Westpac and NAB, which are pledging some 50,000 places for indigenous Australian in their workforces.

George Patterson Y&R has stepped in to produce the multi-media campaign, with the agency also providing a 12-month scholarship to provide a start for young indigenous Australians in the marketing communications industry.

  6. A great initiative from the business leaders of Australia. This is true positive change, without the politcal rot and point scoring.
Well done to the Patts Sydney team too – a well executed, powerful piece of communication.

  10. Such a difficult issue to communicate well and that’s what I think GPY&R Sydney has done. No fluff, no point scoring, just let the facts speak for themselves.
    Well done.

  14. Great idea. And finally it’s great the agency has give a scholarship. On a sad note is that there are many Indigenous agencies that could have been involved with it’s creation and rollout. It’s al about opportunities is it not. Maybe next time.
