Cancer Council: ‘Shit Mates Don’t Say’
Advertising agency Circul8 has created a new campaign ‘Shit Mates Don’t Say’ for the Cancer Council NSW.
The agency said the ad pays homage to the meme ‘Shit Girls Say’ and aims to get men talking about their health.
Sarah McCarthy, brand, marketing and communications manager, Cancer Council NSW said: “Men are putting their lives at risk – they don’t talk about their health the way women do, they don’t go to their GP as often as women and they generally drink, smoke and eat more unhealthy food than women. This is Cancer Council NSW’s first fully male-focused campaign to get men acting on their health and start closing this gap.”
The campaign will be supported by an online platform that includes health tips and facts on cancer.
If you’re going to ‘borrow’ an idea, at least wait for the dust to settle on it first…

Not that any of the team had seen this reference, we suspected that there was a lot of simular content out there…being a meme and all ; )

Might be borrowed, but it’s still pretty funny and the message is good.

It’s not borrowing an idea – it’s tapping into a trend to generate awareness. There are hundreds of shit people do and don’t say videos on youtube – that’s WHY they used it as a platform. I work in healthcare communications and this is one of the best awareness campaigns I’ve seen in a long time.
