Catalogue awards extends entry deadline

The Australian Catalogue Association has extended the deadline for entries to the 23rd marketing industry Australian Catalogue Awards to June 10.

The release:

Due to popular demand, entries into the marketing industry’s night of nights – the 23rd Annual Australian Catalogue Awards – have been extended to Tuesday, 10 June.

Dubbed the ‘Catalogies’ by event MC, TV personality Kate Langbroek, entries have been flooding in and, with over 500 submissions already, a predicted record of more than 700 are expected to be received ahead of the closing date.

Kellie Northwood, Australian Catalogue Association executive director, said the awards highlight the important role catalogues play in a successful marketing campaign.

“We have had an overwhelming response for this year’s awards with more than 350 entries from retail, advertising, marketing, design and printing sectors in the last two weeks alone,” Ms Northwood said.

“Clearly marketing professionals recognise the power of catalogues to connect with consumers who, according to a recent Australia Post survey, rank them as the number one preferred marketing material.”

A growth in online retailer and agency participation has helped boost entry numbers for this year’s awards with a good mix of print and online catalogue entries being submitted.

“We’ve seen print catalogue entries from online retailers increase significantly on last year, a trend that emphasises the emotional connection readers have with the tactility of paper,” Ms Northwood said.

“It is encouraging to see the catalogue industry growing every year and we’ve seen a great increase in young talent emerging as seen in the number of entrants in the Best Young Talent and Designer of the Year awards with prizes of $1,000 and $5,000 respectively.

“Catalogues still lead the way for connecting with consumers and, with a reach of more than 18.3 million Australians every week (according to ACA’s recent Industry Valuation and Market Segmentation report), continue to drive in-store and online traffic.

“I urge everyone who is involved with catalogues to enter if they haven’t already.”

The 23rd Annual Australian Catalogue Awards will be held at the Palladium Room at Crown, Melbourne on Friday, 29 August.
