Chaser persuades Julie Bishop to repeat death stare

The Chaser has managed to persuade opposition deputy leader Julie Bishop to reprise her Q&A death stare for tonight’s first episode of election special Yes We Canberra.

The face-off with the politican will feature in what is likely to be one of The ABC’s strongest rating Wednesday nights of the year.

The original Julie Bishop death stare came back in March when the politician glared at an interruption from the Q&A audience.

Tonight’s episode – which runs at 9.45pm – also sees The Chaser offer a parody of the Angry Angus burger ad featuring Kevin Rudd:

This evening also marks the first special edition of The Gruen Transfer which will for the next four weeks be rebadged as Gruen Nation as it focuses on the election.

  2. OMFG that is hilarious – this is the first think that banshee has done to endear herself to me. I’m genuinely entertained – at least she can take the piss out of herself.

  9. This might sound kinda creepy. But, for mine, she’s the hottest Tory since Eva Braun.

  11. Went along to the taping last night and the Chaser’s show was actually pretty good – saddened that they’ll probably cut out the take which had her give a wave to the crowd that looked like a Nazi salute because the boys stuffed up a line.

  15. That is one laugh out loud, chortle and guffaw moment!
Good on her for laughing at herself.
And for whichever producer managed to ‘sell’ the appearance on the show to her and get her to say yes to it – great work!
