Clark Rubber dusts off 1970’s ‘Better than a beach’ jingle
Retailer Clark Rubber has revived a jingle last heard in the 1970s in a campaign to promote its new range of swimming pools.
The campaign was created without using an advertising agency, and is set to launch on Monday 13 August.
In a press release, the advertiser provided the lyrics for the jingle: ‘Swimming, soaking, splashing, joking, playing after working hard, Clark Pools, better than a beach in your own backyard.’
Joel Shulkin, Clark Rubber national marketing manager, said: “With our new range of modular pools launching, now seemed to be the perfect time to relaunch our most recalled and well received campaign. My first recollection of Clark Rubber as a brand is the ‘Better than a beach in your own backyard’ campaign and I’m excited to introduce this new jingle to a whole new generation.”
The campaign will run across TV and radio as well as point-of-sale.
Yay! I’m singing along already!

We had a Clark Rubber pool when I was a kid in the 70s. I still have the 10-inch scar on my arm from when it collapsed and flooded the garage! Now those were the days, I tell you!

Was the jingle a product of original agency Clemenger Retail (precursor of Clemenger Harvie)?

I think their real problem is that many people are surpised the company still exists!
