Clemenger BBDO NZ picks up AWARD Awards Chairman’s Choice for ‘Mistakes’ campaign
Clemenger BBDO New Zealand was named Chairman’s Choice at tonight’s AWARD Awards, an award conferred upon the agency by Wieden+Kennedy’s Dan Wieden for their ‘Mistakes’ campaign for New Zealand Transport Agency, while Leo Burnett Sydney was named the Agency of the Year.

Wieden said: “There were some of the fantastic pieces of work here. The thing about Mistakes was the choice of talent on camera – two men of different levels in the society and a child involved. The whole concept of the accident stopping, the parents getting out and talking to each other was so compelling it just broke your heart when it was over.”
The night saw a record number of 32 gold pencils presented, 96 silver and 127 bronze also handed out with Leo Burnett picking up both Network of the Year and Agency of the Year for its Sydney office.
Leo Burnett Sydney chief creative officer Andy DiLallo said: “I am extremely proud of the entire agency for this exceptional result at AWARD. The impressive number of wins further highlight our tireless and ongoing commitment to producing world-class creative excellence for our clients.”
The agency picked up a total of 43 pencils, with three of their clients (Samsung, Diageo and WWF) making the ‘top 5 most awarded clients list’.
ANZ claimed the Client of the Year award while Revolver/Will O’Rourke took home Production company of the Year.
Whybin\TBWA Melbourne picked up the most metal, taking home six gold pencils across promotion and experiential, branded entertainment and content, PR, and poster and outdoor. Saatchi & Saatchi were not too far behind taking home four gold awards across film and video, creative innovation and direct marketing.
Colenso BBDO’s Matt Lawson was named Creative of the Year, an award that recognises those being credited across the most individual entries that won Bronze, Silver or Gold (including craft awards if that award is directly applicable to their craft).
The night finished with David Blackley’s induction in the AWARD Hall of Fame in recognition of his achievements though his 36 year career with Clemenger Group and co-founding the AWARD Awards.
