Coles the winner by a knockout
Here’s a branding battle being fought out on Yahoo!7, and across the rest of the media too…
Dr Mumbo isn’t entirely sure who’ll be most cross – Coles or Woolies.
However, he declares Coles the winner in battle for domination of Yahoo7’s telly page.
If woolworths chose to put their ad there, i would say Woolworths won this round for strategic placement 🙂

What happened to Woolies? They use to be leaders
Im actually embarrassed on behalf of Woolies. That use of a green boxing glove seems to me a very desperate measure to combat the red hand of Coles. Surely they can come up with something more original?

Woolworth’s recent knockout campaign is such an embarrassing attempt to mimic Coles’ campaign. All it says to me is that the Coles campaign must be having an impact and no doubt some senior exec inside Woolworth’s thought it was a great idea!
BTW I don’t like the Coles campaign particularly either – drives me mad – but it’s probably winning in the memorability stakes.

The index finger almost looks like a middle finger aimed at WW

Woolworths has disappointed me after I received a brochure from Greenpeace showing many of Woolies products “may contain” GE, genetically engineered ingredients. Whereas Coles were shown as “non-GE”. I wanted to send an email to Woolies to complain but their website has nowhere to place a complaint. That’s a bit arrogant isn’t it? Yes, the Green Finger is a bit “me too” and pathetic.
