Commercial radio sees continued ad revenue growth

The commercial radio industry has recorded the third consecutive month of growth in advertising revenue, up nearly four per cent to $43.61m during January.   

The figures complied by Deloitte for industry body Commercial Radio Australia showed growth of 3.69 per cent in the five metropolitan markets to a total of $43.61m.

The strongest rise came from Brisbane, up 7.2 per cent to $7.12m. There was also growth in all markets except Adelaide.

In Sydney, ad revenue grew by 5.64 per cent to $13.36m, Melbourne grew by 1.51 per cent to $12.77m, Adelaide fell by 1.62 per cent to $4.07m and Perth grew by 3.96 per cent to $6.29m.

The results follows a five per cent growth in December to $54.15m.

Last month, the CRA launched the latest industry brand campaign aimed at pushing the effectiveness of radio as an advertising medium.
