Controversial Snickers builder spot wins Bronze in Media Lions

The controversial Snickers Aussie Builders campaign from ClemengerBBDO Melbourne and Starcom has grabbed a bronze in the Media Lions category, one of five campaigns to get up from Australia.

The viral video, which shows a group of builders shouting reassuring and complimentary comments to women passing by from a construction site with the strapline “You’re not you when you’re hungry” caused confusion amongst some viewers as to whether it was an insult to builders.

Ogilvy Melbourne’s Dupe for Yarra Valley Water won two Bronzes, while Safe Driving Program from Leo Burnett and Starcom Sydney, ANZ’s GAYTMs from Whybin\TBWA Melbourne and PHD and I See Fries from DDB Sydney and OMD Sydney for McDonald’s were the other winners with Bronzes.

Last year Australia picked up ten Lions in this category.
