Corona beach ad runs on tsunami video

Remember the somewhat inappropriate Oral B ‘revolution’ pre-roll ad  on video coverage of the Iranian uprising?

Well, that’s nothin’.

If you’re Corona, you probably do not want your ad featuring a couple sitting on the beach to be rolling underneath a headline that reads: “Deadly tsunami kills at least 100.”

Especially when the tagline is “From where you’d rather be”.

But that’s what readers of Timesonline are currently seeing.

As Dr Mumbo’s spotter puts it: “The worst example I have ever seen.”

  2. Oops!

Perhaps this is a ‘Point Break’ themed ad and the couple are awaiting the hundred year wave?

  4. Oh dear, that’s pretty poor placement! Surely these things are signed off or checked for appropriateness???

  8. Hey. It’s Andy from Mediacom here, this was an accidental unforeseen circumstance from a network buy, with the video pre-roll being tagged to ‘surf related video’s’ … being removed ASAP. Will keep you posted.

  12. Yeah Andy. You really should have known there was going to be a tsunami and had that on the media plan.

Seriously though, what has happened in S-E Asia is a tragedy. This is an unfortunate and totally unforeseeable accident – not a tragedy. Criticism of the client or agency under such circumstances is banal.

So let’s all get on with it – after taking a moment out to make a donation to help … http://www.redcross.org.au/our.....etsana.htm
