Cricket Australia PR manager Rebecca Appleton moves on
The PR manager at Cricket Australia has called time on a five-and-a-half year stint with the sporting industry body to join Treasury Wine Estates.
Rebecca Appleton, who joined CA in 2006, starts as global PR manager for the wine-maker’s Wolf Blass Business unit today.
Cricket Australia is currently looking for a replacement.
Her move comes as doping allegations rock Australian sport, but the timing of her departure is unrelated to the revelations.
Appleton was a full time employee at CA for four seasons and then consulted to the sporting body after she started her own consultancy, Rebecca Appleton Public Relations, 18 months ago.
Appleton joins with a brief to develop “reputation building campaigns” for a number of Australia’s preeminent wine brands including Wolf Blass, Wynns of Coonawarra, Saltram and Annie’s Lane, with a focus on key markets such as Australia, Southeast Asia, Canada and the UK.
“Her move comes as doping allegations rock Australian sport, but the timing of her departure is unrelated to the revelations.”

@ MR T… why is that odd? Indeed some people could view it that way and Mumbrella are probably just covering their arses against the speculation. It’s good journalism really…

No, it’s tabloid journalism.

No it’s not at all. It’s a simple and effective measure, by Mumbrella, to ensure there’s absolutely no speculation that Cricket Australia are somehow involved in doping; thus ensuring the author has, at the least, been misleading, and at the worst defamatory. How on earth that’s ‘tabloid’ is fantasy….
