Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Cornflakes pastiches sex phone lines with guilty pleasure campaign
Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut Cornflakes has pastiched late night sex phone line adverts, positioning the product as a guilty pleasure any time of day in a new digital campaign.
A website hosts the video which tells viewers “Easy tiger…You’re a bit early. Call and text lines open at 8.30pm. Come back then…”
Kellogg’s marketing Director John Broome said: “There are two truths to the Crunchy Nut consumer – they have a great sense of humour and they love a bowl of Crunchy Nut any time of the day – morning, noon or night. So we came up with this cheeky idea that plays on the irresistible nature of our Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes. We also know 10-15 per cent of breakfast cereals are consumed outside breakfast as a snack and Crunchy Nut is ideally positioned to be part of this growing trend.”
It was created by digital marketing agency VML.

Arggh!
“Rose peddles … all here wading for you … I can sadisfy your crunchie cravings.” Yet another in the long list of V/O artists and presenters who are too lazy to pronounce the letter (or is that ledder) T!!!

Nobody under 30 knows what a sex phone line is.

Lol. Best cereal campaign for a long while! Good to see Kellogg’s shaking it up.

I like the ads and the idea behind them, However, and maybe it is my age, but I don’t get the relevance of the “pick up the phone and dial” line as related to boxed cereal.

This looks fantastic! Great idea Kellogg’s! Will have to try out the text line after 8:30 to see what it’s all about.

with this line, its a safe bet that the advertising industry has finally disappeared up its own arse and we will just have to wait and see what happens next!

Sorry to say but this is an old idea poorly re-done.

Great idea… I’m looking forward to see what comes next 🙂 and I guess BK got it right because I’d doubt they are targeting under 30s… just us oldies who like it!

I think this is brilliant. Love the rubber duck and all the quirkiness. This should do well online. Good work lads!

Some fine astro turfing above. No Sergei, it won’t go viral, cause it’s ordinary. Karen, I’ll be trying out the text line after 8.30 too, you betcha.
You guys sure you got this approved by Kelloggs? They’re normally very careful not to put their brand in the gutter.

Sorry but it’s the same old stuff from digital agencies. Take an old idea and pass it off as orignal thinking, only call it something technical that the client doesn’t understand or say it’s going on Facebook. Question: in this digital age who still calls? I agree Rusdie Kelloggs are normally careful, someone must have been asleep at the wheel that day.
But I have to say well done on being brave to pr this and well done for the agency jumping on here to say what great creative it is. That show great team work.

Hi Dean,
To clarify Mumbrella found this – it was not proactively PRed by agency or Kellogg’s.
Cheers,
