Daily Mail appoints Andrea Magrath as ‘Femail’ editor

Andrea MagrathThe Daily Mail Australia has appointed journalist Andrea Magrath as its new acting Australia Femail editor.

The move sees the Daily Mail Australia build out its female focused audience coverage with Magrath to oversee a new team producing local stories featuring fashion, beauty, health, and lifestyle.

She has recently returned to Sydney after five years in London, where she spent two and half years working for MailOnline on the show business and travel desks, during that time she was also seconded to the LA bureau.

“Andrea’s appointment builds on our already significant relationship with Australian women with relevant and engaged content. Andrea’s experience is perfect for our female audience who love fashion,  gossip and lifestyle stories,” said Peter Holder, managing director of Daily Mail Australia.

“Having worked in both print and online gives Andrea an edge as to what women of all demos enjoy reading. We are already publishing local Femail stories which will increase as we build the team over the coming months. It’s an exciting time for Daily Mail Australia and we are thrilled to have Andrea join our editorial team.”

Magrath also wrote extensively on food and travel while in London. Prior to that she was a news and features writer at Grazia magazine in Australia

The Daily Mail launched its Australian operations in early 2014 and has since risen up the rankings to be a reliable fourth on the Nielsen Online Ratings.
