Dancing with the Stars grand finale watched by 1.063m as Seven wins night

The grand finale of Seven’s Dancing with the Stars attracted an average metro audience of 1.063m viewers for the two-and-a-half hour show which saw AFL footballer David Rodan crowned the winner, according to OzTam ratings.

The result was up on its debut, which pulled an average metro audience of 1.04m viewers,  but well down on last year’s grand finale which brought nearly 1.4m metro viewers to Seven.

However it did give the network a winning 24.5 per cent share leaving Nine with a share of 17.6 per cent while Ten managed a share of 13.7 per cent and the ABC settled for 11.6 per cent.

Dancing with the Stars was the most watched show of the night and most popular amongst people aged  25 – 54, while Nine’s Big Brother was the most popular show amongst all the other demographics after pulling an audience of 552,000 in its 8.40pm timeslot. The result was modestly up on last week’s audience of 525,000. The show wraps up tonight.

Also on Nine, David Attenborough’s Life grabbed an audience of 671,000 in its 7.30pm timeslot, up slightly on last week’s audience of 643,000.

It and DWTS out-rated Ten’s Recipe to Riches which saw its audience continue to decline, posting an audience of 443,000 down from last week’s audience of 466,000.

Recipe to Riches was also beaten by the ABC’s 7.30 which had an audience of 766,000.

Also on the ABC, Kitchen Cabinet was watched by 568,000 at 8pm while A Country Road: The Nationals at 8.3opm had 483,000 viewers. At the Movies, on at 9.30pm, pulled an audience of 364,000.

Ten’s most watched show was NCIS at 8.30pm which grabbed an audience of 700,000. NCIS was the second-most time-shifted show of the week, with an extra 120,000 viewers boosting its total audience to 795,000.

NCIS: Los Angeles on at 9.30pm was watched by 501,000.

In news, Nine News was one of two shows to break the 1m viewer mark, pulling an audience of 1.044m at 6pm while Seven News was watched by 964,000. At 6.30pm Nine News had an audience of 980,000 while Seven News/Today Tonight was watched by 926,000.
