David Penberthy leaves Sunday Mail for Fiveaa breakfast gig

david penberthyThe editor of News Corps’ Sunday Mail David Penberthy is leaving the post to take a full-time gig as part of the new breakfast team for Adelaide’s Fiveaa station.

Penberthy only joined the Sunday paper in January, replacing Megan Lloyd, and his replacement has not yet been announced. He and sports journalist Mark Aiston will join Jane Reilly to host the show on the DMG network.

He has previously been editor of The Daily Telegraph and News.com.au and is already a regular contributor to the show. He will also continue to write his regular columns for the Adelaide newspaper and other News Corp organisations.

Earlier this month it was revealed veteran breakfast host Keith Conlon was set to hang up his earphones after hosting the show for 13 years. He finishes on Friday.

Dave Shearer, FIVEaa program director said: “We are flattered by the interest and speculation surrounding our on-air line-up. It is testament to the respect and position FIVEaa holds in Adelaide.

“With David and Mark, a highly respected journalist and one of most experienced sports journalist in Adelaide, joining talented broadcaster Jane Reilly, FIVEaa’s new breakfast team will not only deliver the most up to the minute news but will cover all the issues that are important to Adelaide listeners.”
